Last July, A 516 Productions (“Because of Mika”) released the first poster and teaser for their upcoming comedy, “We Want the Virus.” Filmmaker and Writer Paul Santoli partnered with Daniel Gualajara to pen a comedy about Covid-19. While the words ‘comedy’ and ‘Covid-19’ don’t usually belong in the same sentence, Santoli — as shown in the aforementioned “Because of Mika” — has a knack for injecting heart into his comedic ventures in all the right places.

Now, on July 4th, A 516 Productions is releasing the first trailer for “We Want the Virus.” The previous teaser gave an outline of the plot, but little else. The plot of the film has the stuff of great comedy. A pair of struggling actors, Adam and Greg (Paul Santoli, Cody Schultz) see how much money was raised by someone whose medical bills were piling up due to having Covid. Trying to cash in on the opportunity, the pair start a GoFundMe page or the like for Adam, making him look to have a bad case of Covid-19. But when they find out that in order to collect they have to submit the positive Covid test, the pair engages on a mad dash to find someone who has Covid — or get a positive test — so they can collect their winnings.

The film premiered in both NY and LA this past year.

    Cast & Trailer

With Paul Santoli and Cody Schultz, “We Want the Virus” has a fresh cast  including Amy Lyndon, Sam Naismith, Elisabeth Montanaro, and more.
