    Austin-based Indie Meme Hosts Annual South x South Asia Brunch Sunday, March 9

    Join Austin-based nonprofit Indie Meme this Sunday, March 9th for a special brunch celebrating their community of supporters, as well as the South Asian creatives participating in this year’s SXSW. The brunch will be from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM at the home of long-time Indie Meme champion, Shubbada Saxena, located at 555 E 5th St., APT 2912, Austin, TX 78701. The brunch is open to media and film industry talent and professionals attending SXSW; if you’d like to attend, please RSVP here. RSVP by end of day Friday, March 7th, as space is very limited.

    The festival has their milestone 10th Annual Indie Meme Film Festival (IMFF) taking place April 9-13 at the Austin Film Society Cinema (located at 6259 Middle Fiskville Rd, Austin, TX 78752). Badges are currently on sale for IMFF 2025 and can be purchased here. For more information on IMFF, please see their website here.

    About Indie Meme 

    IMFF was established in 2013 when co-founders Alka Bhanot and Tripti Bhatnagar couldn’t find a supporting festival for South Asian filmmakers in Austin. The organization began hosting screenings of South Asian films throughout the year and eventually grew to present their first Indie Meme Film Festival (IMFF) in 2016.

    IMFF has since grown to include the most incredible talent working in South Asian cinema, with virtual and live Q&A with filmmakers and actors from all over India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Iran, and more. This project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department, Texas Commission on the Arts, and Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
