Indie films finding a wider platform to reach their audience is some of the best news small-budget filmmakers can hope for. So it’s with great jubilation for us to announce that writer/director Tom Heard’s 2020 LGBTQ romance “Getting It” is now available to watch on YouTube via Freebie Movies.

Heard’s film—an LGBTQ love story that is relatable and real—continues to have staying power four years since its release. It won film festival awards at the Swedish International Film Festival, the Beyond the Curve International Film Festival, and the Hong Kong Indie Film Festival. The film co-stars Donato De Luca and Sharon Bower.

Being picked up Freebie Movies will hopefully bring Heard’s touching and comedically-tinged “Getting It” to a wider audience. What is unique about Heard’s film is its approach to an LGBTQ romance. The film shies away from decades’-long approaches to the medium, which have usually dealt with the agony of self-acceptance and approval from society of LGBTQ couple. Here, Heard sought to make a simpler story about two men who meet, fall in love, and the kinds of issues any two people would face. (You can read more about the making of “Getting It” in our interview with Tom, here).

In addition to YouTube, “Getting It” is also available on Tubi, Google Play, Vimeo, and Roku. You can watch the film in the window below, or open on YouTube. Make sure to subscribe to Freebie Movies on YouTube for more great selections from the streaming account.

If you like “Getting It,” Tom Heard has recently finished writing a second LGBTQ romance feature he hopes will enter production soon. You can follow Tom on Instagram @aktorman, Twitter (X) @aktorguy, and on IMDb.
