The Movie Buff at Tribeca: In Conversation with Delmar Washington and Tucker Morgan, ‘No Running’

I had the chance to cover the film “No Running” at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. I spoke with director Delmar Washington and writer Tucker Morgan for the film. Their film is about a young Black man, Jaylen (Skylan Brooks), who one evening goes to a lake with a classmate. After her mysterious disappearance, everyone assumes Jaylen did it. However, he’s insistent that something abducted her.

The film blends sci-fi, conspiracy elements and the Black experience. For the interview, we touch on being inspired by “Get Out,” and mixing the sci-fi elements with this story. Delmar Washington also talked about why he came on board and why it’s a personal story to him. We also talked about casting the characters, like Skylan Brooks as Jaylen and also casting Bill Engvall. There’s much more.

You can listen to the conversation below as the film is now available on Tribeca at Home as part of the Juneteenth programming. More info here.
