Here at The Movie Buff we’re excited to be covering the Tribeca Film Festival on its 20th anniversary, as it kicks off a month of virtual and in-person screenings. For my first interview at the festival, I was able to speak with Hamilton Harris. He is one of the original stars of Larry Clark’s cult classic film “Kids.”

For the documentary “The Kids,” he is the co-writer, producer and main doc subject of Eddie Martin’s film. The film is a reflection about where some of the stars are today and the background about how the film began.

In the conversation, we discuss a bit of the original film and the skateboarding. We also talk about how it’s 12 years in the making, as well Hamilton having the courage to put himself on the chopping block to explore other aspects. As well, I also learned why they wanted to call it “The Kids.”

The film premieres tonight at 8 p.m. in its World Premiere as part of the Documentary Competition section. Then, it will be available at Tribeca at Home starting June 12 at 6 p.m. (info here). You can listen to the conversation with Hamilton Harris directly below.
