X-Men: Days of Future Past (PG-13)

“Are we destined to destroy each other, or can we change each other and unite? Is the future truly set?” – Professor Charles Xavier. One of the most anticipated films for this year and wow – “X-Men: Days of Future Past” totally exceeded all expectations!

This film is not just another ordinary entertaining flick, it’s not just explosions and special effects all over the place. It has all of the ingredients that these types of films need, but with strong and very important differences. It’s one of the finest superhero films that I’ve ever seen in many ways, with first class acting and a well-structured plot with all of the right elements and the right connections to put everything together. For that we need to know at least the basics about the characteristics and abilities of the characters from other films; but that will not prevent the ones who didn’t followed the previous films to enjoy this one anyway.

For an entertaining film, this has such an immense power over us. We care about the characters more and more, as the tension gets higher and higher leaving us at the edge of our seat almost the whole time. Between action scenes and emotional moments, there’s also moments of humour to lose the tension a bit and those moments were great, delivered very cleverly at the right places to light up the dark and engaging atmosphere.

Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are two of my favorite actors. It was impossible for me not to like them in here. Both gave amazing performances, they are able to give depth to his characters and transmit to us all of the emotions that we need to feel through them; and what’s more amazing about the two is that happens no matter the role they play.

Hugh Jackman is Wolverine – this will be one of those characters that we will always see when we look at him and he plays it very well too. Jennifer Lawrence is always perfect no matter what. All of the small appearances from all of the actors involved in other “X-Men” films were great to see, however small they might have been.

And of course, a very special mention for the two legends Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart.

I did not gave this film an A+ for just one reason – it left me with some questions in my head. Things that might be a bit complicated to understand because we already saw many things that happened in the future… The future of “X-Men” films will be the same? Or this events will affect other films forward with different stories? Anyway, let’s wait and see.

Well done Bryan Singer and thank you for your amazing job directing this film. By the way, I liked your cameo!

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” is awesome, and it will be almost for sure the best blockbuster of the year.
