Annie (Adara Toop) buys an old chair from an antique/thrift type store. Annie is unaware of the chair’s involvement in a brutal crime we the viewer sees at the film’s opening.
The chair serves as a perfect, albeit unusual choice for effective horror. It starts subtly. Annie hears the legs grinding against the floor. The chair slightly moves when she isn’t looking. It may sound corny, but it works – the movie has some of the best scares you will find.
Adara Toop is the only actor we see and proves she’s a capable lead for horror. She’s smart for the genre, calling the police at the first sign of an issue, and taking a kitchen knife to bed for protection. I would love to see more of Adara Toop in the horror genre.
Great Horror Short
“In the Dark” is an excellent short horror film. It’s simple and effective. Spencer Keller weaves a flick that’s fast and contains some of the best scary moments you will witness.
