I had the pleasure of speaking with some of the team involved with the Apple TV+ original documentary “Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry.” I was able to speak with Cinematographer Jenna Rosher in one of today’s conversations, as well as editors Greg Finton and Lindsay Utz in a following interview. (Note: both are combined in the following audio for brevity).
The documentary is an intimate look at the singer-songwriter’s journey. It follows her as she navigates life on the road, on-stage, and at home while creating her debut album. The film has some really incredible moments throughout and it’s surprisingly hilarious.
In the first conversation, Jenna Rosher, talks about what parts she shot and how much was home footage. It goes with the flow of the verité style because they never knew what was going to happen. She also discusses being a fly on the wall and sharing hilarious and emotional moments with Billie.
In the second conversation with editors Greg Finton and Lindsay Utz, we talk about their experience meeting Billie and her family after editing them for so long, the editing process itself, and how hands-on RJ Cutler was.In addition, we discuss how the 25-hour assembly cut of the film and going through that, the balance between the concert moments and verité, Billie’s dog, Pepper, and much more.
