Review: ‘Three Creepy Tales’ Horror Short from Indie Filmmaker Ashley Nicole

Three Creepy Tales” is a horror short from indie filmmaker Ashley Nicole. The 13 minute anthology includes three separate stories; Molly Dolly, Cavity, and Mr. Red. What “Three Creepy Tales” lacks in budget, it more than makes up for with its passion.

My favorite part of the trilogy is “Molly Dolly” due to my own lifelong apprehension of dolls. The titular Molly is introduced as a doll with a mind of its own. And there is only one rule to follow. Never look at her. Easy for me. This doll certainly looks the part of all things terrifying. The piece doesn’t go overboard with complications. Molly isn’t stalking the halls with a butcher knife. In a true ‘Twilight Zone’ way, she’s simply an evil entity. I would love to see Molly being the central aspect of a full length movie.

Say ahhhh…

“Cavity” and “Mr. Red” continue the filmmaker’s vision of turning out a sinister story. The film is shot with a chilling tone and great sounds to add to the unease. The red shadowy wash that bathes the production is a brilliant touch. It puts the viewer in a ready state of tension which is precisely the idea.

It’s New Year’s Eve – meaning there are only 273 days until October 1. Watch “Three Creepy Tales” if you want to end 2021 or start 2022 with a chill. We look forward to future projects from Ashley Nicole. Show your support for Indie Film at the links below!
