PRESS RELEASE (London, UK)—JumpCut Studios, an arm of the entertainment website JumpCut Online, is seeking funding via Kickstarter for a short film in pre-production, “I Love You, Guys.” The film is being produced by JumpCut Studios in conjunction with Static Flow Productions and Felix Mater Society.

The film is set to be ‘a poignant musical drama written by Cory Varney and directed by Billie Rogan, which is currently making waves on the online funding platform Kickstarter as the team looks to crowdfunding to bring this project to life.”

According to the production company’s write-up on Kickstarter, “I Love You, Guys” is a ‘short film about music, pain, fame, and, ultimately, love.” The Kickstarter describes the project as “A Star is Born” meets “I, Tonya.” The film, set to begin filming in April 2020, mixes themes of mental health, struggling and asking for help when you need it, and LGBTQ+ issues, who the film’s main character, Sky, identifies as.

According to the Kickstarter website, the goal of the fundraising campaign is to raise £6,500. Despite the struggles presented worldwide by the Coronavirus, the production company has announced that they have already managed to raise £4,000.

    The Project’s Inspiration

According to the Kickstarter campaign website, the film’s writer, Cory Varney was inspired by an interview with Hayley Williams from the band Paramore, who opened up about her mental health struggles.  Cory took the idea of opening up about mental health and turned it into a larger production, expanding to include “an all-singing, all-dancing, highly ambitious and poignant musical drama.”

    Cast & Crew

So far, the film is set to star the following: actress Becky Bush (as Sky), Cecelia Crossland (as Taylor), and Pedro Leandro (as Ryan).

The crew is set to include: Billie Rogan (Director), Cory Varney (Writer), Jakob Lewis Barnes (Producer), Lewis Coates (Producer), and Daisy Edwards (Junior Producer).
