The opening minutes are emotionally tough. We say goodbye to characters that we love. But it’s a necessary step in keeping the series fresh going forward.

24 Season 5 is the best of the series.

The characters, the acting, the enemy threat. It’s non-stop excitement from start to finish. Critics agree as it received twelve Primetime Emmy Award nominations with five wins, including Outstanding Drama Series.

Jack Bauer is lured out of hiding at the start. He quickly picks up with his gritty character that we love. He’s shacking up with the beautiful Connie Britton – who sadly doesn’t have a larger role in the story. Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub) is back at CTU and cementing her character as a fan favorite.

24: President Logan (Gregory Itzin, R) is concerned for Martha (Jean Smart, R) in episode “Day 5: 6:00 AM-7:00

The threat comes from Russian terrorist, fronted by great villains portrayed by David Dayan Fisher, Mark Sheppard, and the late Julian Sands. Former Robocop and current SU professor Peter Weller is the main enemy – Jack Bauer’s former mentor gone awry.

    Great Actors

Sean Astin, known for “The Goonies” plays a no nonsense CTU boss. The political side ups its game as well. Gregory Itzin returns as President Charles Logan and brings a superb acting performance to the part. Jean Smart joins the cast as the befuddled First Lady and makes for one of the most entertaining aspects of the season.

24: Jack (Kiefer Sutherland, R) captures Henderson (Peter Weller, L) in the 24 episode “Day 5: 1:00 AM – 2:00 AM” that aired on Monday, April 24 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2006 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Kelsey McNeal/FOX

Season 5 has no boring parts. A first for the series. It introduces new characters and departs from established ones. There are shocking twists and turns that we’ve come to expect from the show. It’s the peak.
