Tribeca Interview: Star Skyler Davenport and Director Randall Okita for ‘See For Me’

“See For Me” is an innovative thriller that played as part of the Tribeca Film Festival in the Tribeca Online Premieres section. The film is about a blind former skier Sophie (Skyler Davenport) who cat sits or house sits for cash. On this job, she goes to a secluded mansion (in Caledon, Ontario). Then, three thieves invade the home to rob a hidden safe.

Sophie’s only defense is army veteran Kelly (Jessica Parker Kennedy), who acts as Sophie’s eyes through a phone app called See For Me, which pairs visually impaired users with people who usually help do much less challenging tasks.

I was able to speak with star Skyler Davenport and director Randall Okita for their film. In the conversation, we spoke about Skyler joining this film as her first lead role. “I didn’t choose the ‘See For Me’ life, the ‘See For Me’ life chose me,” she jokes. Then, we talk about the importance in casting a visually impaired person for the role of Skyler, and that casting process and Skyler being right for the role.

We also talk about the location of the film and introducing the house to the audience. We also discuss the relationship between Sophie and Kelly and the interesting way they filmed those scenes. There’s much more in the fun conversation.
