One Halloween night, Lubicchi meets the titular Poupelle, a man made of garbage who many run away from when he can’t take off his Halloween costume, as they think he’s a monster. However, Lubicchi befriends him; and together, they set out to discover what’s beyond the smoke, as Lubicchi’s taught the power of friendship.
For the film, which recently played as part of the “Animation is Film” festival in Los Angeles, I was able to speak with two of the voice actors in the film. I spoke with Antonio Raul Corbo, who voices Lubicchi, as well as Misty Lee, who plays the character of Lola as Lubicchi’s mother.
In the conversation, we talk about the voice work and the process and if they were inspired by the original Japanese voices. We also talk about some interesting aspects of their careers so far, hanging out on the red carpet, their favourite moments from the film and some of the themes they took away from the film.
