Fans of Richard Linklaterâs âBefore Sunriseâ (and its sequel, âBefore Sunsetâ) will doubtless recognize the name Julie Delpy. Since then, she has been busy and directed a brand new Netflix/Canal+ series âOn the Verge,â which chronicles four women dealing with different midlife crises in pre-pandemic L.A. (IMDb).Â
The series stars a number of talentâincluding Chloé Hollings, a TV and video game voice actor who will play âElodieâ in the episode âViva Italia!â on the show. Playing Elodie on âOn the Vergeâ will be a big step for Hollings, the bilingual actress who is also the author of her own book, published in 2016. Hollings will star alongside the likes of Elizabeth Shue, Sarah Jones, Mathieu Demy, and Giovanni Ribisi.Â
Early Life
Chloé Hollings was born in Paris, France, but spent her childhood growing up in Melbourne, Australia. Her first foray into acting came at the early age of 8, where she was a voice actress for prominent publishers in English-learning audio workbooks (notably âHACHETTEâ âNATHAN,â âMAGNARD,â and âHATIERâ).Â
These projects led her to an interesting career; and as she turned 18, she entered the prestigious theatre class of Jean-Laurent Cochet, former member of the Comédie Française. From there, she was hired as a stage actress at well-known venues in Paris.Â
Hollings then spent time in France and Dubai for the Alliance Française, ultimately landing TV roles alongside such actors as Jean Reno. Her first feature films included the first French IMAX feature âSea Rexâ (âOcéanosaures 3D: Voyage au Temps des Dinosaures,â French title), in which she held the lead role.Â
Chloé got her big break by doing voice-acting for the video game âOverwatch,â which is considered by many to be one of the greatest video games of all time.”
Meanwhile, she continued to work on her voice-acting career; this led her to become one of the most requested voice actors in Paris.Â
âOverwatchâ
Chloé got her big break by doing voice-acting for âOverwatch,â considered one of the greatest video games of all time. Hollingsâ work on âOverwatchâ (playing the character âWidowmakerâ) led to fame for the young actress. She began to meet more fans and pursue her international career.Â
It was also during this time that Hollings wrote and published her book, “F*ck les Regimes!,â which inspired many women worldwide. This was in large part thanks to the interest of media and magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Marie-Claire, LâExpress, Psychologie Magazine, Marie-France, Biba, and more.
Additionally, Chloéâs voice can also be heard in the video games âEnterre-moi mon Amour,â âWolfenstein Youngbloodâ and commercials for Lexus, Hewlett Packard, and Burger King.
âOn the VergeâÂ
âOn the Vergeâ looks to be an interesting series, especially with Delpy at the helm, who has shown her chops at introspective and self-discovery pieces before. The series, which follows four forty-somethings in L.A., is described aptly by Delpy in Variety:Â
“I wanted to tell the story of these women who had children pretty late in life, who used to have more freedom and discovered maternity at 38 rather than at 25. All but one have 12 year-old boys! I wanted to talk about how women who have children navigate their lives, and how they juggle their personal and professional lives.âÂ
Hollings will play the role of Elodie. According to press, she and her husband are friends of the couple played by Julie Delpy and Mathieu Demy. The release date for âOn the Vergeâ was September 6, 2021 in France on Canal+ and September 7 on Netflix worldwide. You can watch the trailer below:Â
